Food there on average, most of the goods tastes sweet. However, if you want to order take out, I would suggest you change to other restaurants. I ordered dinner at around 5pm, while when I arrived at 5:30, I have to wait for another 15 minutes to get my dinner.

I believe when I find something that is a true joy I should share it. This review is not for the restaurant but for one dish at this restaurant. During my monthly restaurant crawl, we tried this spot.Schezwan chicken rocks and rocks hard. Wings cut into pieces deep fried set on a bed of chillis, garlic slices, chunks of ginger, and peanuts. Wow, this has a great taste.The first experience I had here wasn't so good. The waiter let some asians cut before me. a big white dude. Okay I got over it. Tried again because the place is pretty crowded. I've tried about 10 different dishes there and to be honest none but the schezwan chicken tickles my fancy.We ordered beers with our chicken. They came out a little warm first visit. The waiter fixed it and got us chilled glasses to go with the spice. Yum. This is a favorite stop on a Saturday for a snack. Every since then the beer has been nice a cool and we get offered a chilled glass.

This was a disappointing dining experience. My wife and I came for lunch on a weekday afternoon. The service was decent for as busy of a crowd, but the food was not good at all.I ordered the Crispy Onion Pancake and Xiao Lung Bao dumplings.The Crispy Onion Pancake wasn't crispy at all. It was doughy with very little flavor.The Xiao Lung Bao dumplings were really bland and had no juiciness to them at all. That's the most important part of Xiao Lung Bao dumplings, is the juice that's in them. Without any, you might as well be eating a potsticker. Probably the worst ones I've ever eaten.My wife did enjoy her dish of Nian Gao and said it was decent in flavor and texture.My recommendation is to skip this restaurant and try one of the many other restaurants in this plaza.

Not sure if we're not one of them, the mainland Chinese, so our food portions were very small compared to other tables that ordered the same dishes. We ordered Grandmother special pork (1 boiled egg with only 6 fatty pork) and some pork clay pot (1 big bone without any meat and a few pieces of fatty smoke pork with some noodles and napa) for 16 bucks before tips. The wait for our food was extremely long - 30+mins, so that explains the waiting line outside. The taste was not bad, but we're upset to see all other tables around us getting huge portion for all their food, but ours were pathetically small! They're definitely not anywhere worth 16 bucks!

This little restaurant is as close to truly authentic Shanghai food that I've had. I'm surprised this place has less than a 4 star rating. I'm from a Shanghaineese family and we've visited Shanghai and eaten true Shanghai food many, many times....and tried finding a counterpart in America.We've come here many, many times and have had most of the typical Shanghaineese foods.The xiao long bao - pork dumplings - are juicy, as they should be, and the skin is just right -- not too tough, not too thin.The thick Shanghai-style noodles are top notch: not too salty or dry; you also for sure want to try their freshly made, in house, pork man-tou (which is basically a dumpling with thicker skin but just as much juice inside, if not more)Other great foods to try are the fish in wine sauce, small pork ribs, and the red bean rice dessert. (Sorry. I really don't know how to write these in English...heck I don't even know them in Chinese but I can pick it out in the picture!!! But if you go and try to describe these the way I do here, they'll know what you want)5 stars if it had better service and cleaner restaurant, but hey, if you speak the language--Shanghaineese--you'll be treated like a star. (or as much of a star that you can be in a Chinese restaurant!)...but rest assured, I will come here and recommend this place again and again and again. It really comes down to just knowing what to order!!

What happened to this place? It used to be a delightful reminder of my hometown Shanghai. Now it is quite a disgrace of Shanghai cuisine. What happened? Change of owner? Change of chef? The dishes still have the same names and similar ingredients, but have lost the touch of Shanghai. Bummer.

This is a small restaurant that is usually busy every time I go here. They actually have one of the freshest veggies I've had at a Chinese restaurant. We normally order the string beans and some sort of beef entree on a sizzling hot plate. The only problem is service. It takes a while to flag one down for service.

This was my second time coming here. The service is great and the food is decently priced and tasty. We got the three items for $19.99. The Shanghai Pork Meat Ball and Shredded Pork with garlic were great. The pork wrapped in bean skin which was recommended was not that great.

Tiny restaurant that is packed with folks during the midweek lunch hour so you're practically seated elbow to elbow with the next table so this is not a place to bring large groups of people unless its a slow day. Wait wasn't too long although I suspect it's because most people see the crowded room and leave.I enjoyed the pork dumplings while my friend loved the crab+pork dumplings.Also ordered green onion pancakes and the spicy beef tendons which wasn't too spicy but was drenched in oil. In the end, they gave us a free order of mochi for dessert which was nice. Good food, decent service at a reasonable price.The only major negative is the lack of parking but that's typical with milpitas square.Note: CASH only!

Unpretentious mom and pops joint. We stumbled by this on accident while looking at places to eat at McCarthy, the menu seemed pretty decent and I wanted to try the XLB.XIAO LONG BAO- This was a bit mushy with no distinct flavor. There wasn't as much soup in the middle as I had at other places. I was actually a bit disappointed in these.HOT AND SOUR SOUP - This soup was dense with lots of chunky bits. I really liked the thick mushroom slivers in it. It was a bit light on the sour flavor tho, more like nicely seasoned/brothed brown soup with really chunky bits.SHANGHAI SPARE RIBS - The ribs were fresh and crunchy under all the sauce. This was a really good dish except you have to watch out for all the small bones.PORK FRIED RICE - Surprisingly, this was my favorite of all the dishes. So simple but had a great flavor.The food was overall fresh but there wasn't something that stood out as a great dish. We really liked the pork fried rice and maybe the spare ribs but the other two dishes we thought were just ok.Got there at 5:40p on Sunday not so busy. When we left at 7 the place was crackin' with a long wait.Four dishes for $36 including tip. We were almost shocked at the bill Great price for an abundance of decent food.

This place was open later and not busy on a Friday night. Dinner was $11pp including tax and tip - so cheap! We had soup, pork spareribs that looked like Panda Express orange chicken, beef dish, two orders of XLB and a tofu dish. It was plenty for five people. Quick and efficient service!Would come back!

Yup, getting a seat for lunch or dinner is hard. The place is so popular and there is limited seating. You either have to get there before 11:40 am for lunch or take a 2pm lunch. The food is good, it's authentic shanghai food, ...?
